A Manitoba judge has ordered a jail sentence for a man involved in a fatal shooting nearly two years ago in Blumenort.
On August 1st, 2023, at approximately 7:45 pm, police received a report that a firearm had been discharged inside an apartment building along Crestview Lane in Blumenort.
Officers from the Steinbach RCMP detachment, along with EMS, responded to the call and located a 27-year-old male inside the residence with critical injuries. The man was pronounced dead on scene.
RCMP charged Cory Davis of Blumenort, who was 43 years old at the time, with criminal negligence causing death with a firearm, and a number of other firearms-related offences.
Davis pleaded guilty and on Wednesday received a prison sentence of six years. Davis has already served the equivalent of 1,095 days in custody.
