Two senior baseball championships will be awarded about 90 kilometres apart on Wednesday night.

In the North Saskatchewan River Baseball League, the Unity Senior Cardinals are at their temporary home in Wilkie for the final time tonight hosting the North Battleford Beavers, while across Highway 14, the Macklin Lakers welcome in the Veteran Bulls to decide what's their third straight meeting in the Battle River Baseball League Championship series, the Lakers going for a three-peat.

The Cardinals will be geared up for the Beavers best effort after playing at Baseball Sask Tier 1 provincials in Saskatoon this past weekend. 

After their tournament ended in the semi-finals, the Cardinals focus immediately shifted back to the league title series against North Battleford. The series started last Monday as the Cardinals walked off the Beavers 5-4 in an exciting game from Wilkie, only for the Beavers to knot the series up two days later with a 5-2 win.

The final game of the NSRBL season will be played at Wilkie Regional Park, first pitch at 6:30.

The winner-take-all game in Macklin also fires up at 6:30, the home Lakers aiming to keep the BRBL title in Saskatchewan for a third straight season.  

Game 1 last Monday in Macklin went to the road team as Veteran took a close, high-scoring decision 9-7. On the ropes, Macklin responded for an 8-5 win to tie the series up and force a Game 3.

After tonight the season will be over for Unity, though for the Lakers, they will be hoping to bring a trophy to their provincial tournament in Carnduff this upcoming weekend. The Lakers are competing in Tier 3 provincials, one of a few local teams in action around the province as you can read more in the related stories section above.
