With increased traffic expected over the Heritage Day long weekend, Grande Prairie Enforcement Services carried out enhanced traffic enforcement across the city to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians. This increased presence resulted in 274 violation tickets, aimed at reducing high‑risk driving behaviours and preventing collisions.

The campaign targeted speeding, seatbelt infractions, distracted driving, and vehicle equipment violations related to noisy and illegally modified vehicles. Charges for open liquor in motor vehicles were also issued.

Peace Officers also handed out two 24-hour suspensions and five mandatory court appearances. Two motorists were charged with driving 50 km/h over the posted speed limit, two motorists were charged with driving without insurance, and one motorist was charged with driving while suspended.

Grande Prairie Enforcement Services will continue to focus on education and enforcement initiatives to reduce unsafe driving behaviours and help ensure everyone reaches their destination safely.
