Saskatchewan hunters are being urged to gear up for the 2025-26 season, with the provincial government releasing its annual hunting guide and opening licence sales for the year.
“Hunting in Saskatchewan offers exceptional recreational opportunities, not only for our residents, but also for visitors across the world,” said Environment Minister Travis Keisig in a news release. “Our government values the vital role hunters play as stewards of our natural landscapes and as contributors to local economies through tourism and community engagement.”
The 2025 Saskatchewan Hunters Guide is now available both online and in print. It includes updated season dates, licence options and fees, and new information on species management, chronic wasting disease (CWD), and bovine tuberculosis. A standalone regulations summary supplement is also new for this year.
Licences, including those from the Big Game Draw and regular categories, became available for purchase on Aug. 1. They can be obtained through the Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence (HAL) system, by phone, or in person at select retailers, provincial park offices, and Government of Saskatchewan field offices.
The province is also reminding hunters that permission is required to hunt on private land. With about 85 per cent of southern Saskatchewan made up of private or controlled lands, hunters must seek consent, whether written, verbal, or via signage, from landowners before entering.
Additional tools available to hunters this season include:
-
The Hunting Permission on Private Land fact sheet
-
CWD Surveillance Program maps and updates
-
Access to relevant publications via the Government of Saskatchewan’s Publications Centre
