Poll: Star Wars vs Star Trek

It’s a question as old as time itself: Which is better Star Wars or Star Trek?

Although they’re two sides of the same coin, there are definitely people who see one as far superior to the other.

Below are a few pros and cons to consider when making your choice:

Star Wars — Pros

• High action, fantastical concepts

• Pod racing (think NASCAR with no rules)

• Jedi (laser swords and telekinetic powers)

Cons

• Nothing is realistic (fireballs in space), but everything can be forgiven

• The Holiday Special (if you haven’t seen it, don’t… trust me)

• The sequel trilogy

Star Trek — Pros

• Much more grounded in reality

• Focuses on the political comings and goings of a spacefaring humanity

• William Shatner

Cons

• Can be a slow burn

• Focuses on the political comings and goings of a spacefaring humanity (yes, it’s both a pro and a con)

• The first series’ special effects. In the early days, Star Trek was on a shoestring budget, and it shows (they once dressed up a Shih Tzu and tried to pass it off as an exotic alien)
