The aquatics area at Eastlink Centre will be closed from September 1 to October 5 for annual maintenance.
This scheduled shutdown allows City staff and contractors to complete essential work that supports the long-term health, safety and efficiency of the facility. By completing deep cleaning, preventative maintenance and infrastructure upgrades during this time, the City helps extend the life of key systems and amenities while minimizing disruptions throughout the year.
The following tasks will be prioritized during the annual shutdown:
- Refurbishing the splash pad.
- Tile repairs in family and adult hot tubs.
- Painting throughout the pool area.
- Repairing the pool basin.
- Surge tank cleaning and inspection.
- Refurbishing the sauna.
- Change room maintenance and repairs.
Annual inspections as well as various preventative and mechanical maintenance tasks will also take place during the closure.
Aquatics impacts and member supports
The aquatics area is fully closed for the duration of maintenance.
The Aquatera Outdoor Pool will remain open to members during the closure until September 21, as long as weather permits.
To continue supporting members during the shutdown, Eastlink Centre is offering dryland fitness classes in place of aquatics fitness classes. The Fall Fitness Pass, which includes five drop-in visits for the price of three, will also be available.
Members are encouraged to use all other areas of the facility including drop-in fitness classes, PlayCare, the fitness centre, walking track and the Design Works Centre. Fall recreation schedules will be available to the public starting this week to help plan around the closure.
Through a partnership with the NuVista Energy Centre, Eastlink Centre members and Grande Access Pass holders will also be able to access the Beaverlodge Swimming Pool during public swim times.
Eastlink Centre memberships are eligible to be paused or cancelled during the shutdown. Members interested in this option may do so by contacting Access GP at 311, or online at access.cityofgp.com.
