The 2025 Canada Summer Games started last Friday in St. John's Newfoundland, beginning two straight weeks of nonstop competition featuring some of the provinces best young talent.
West Central based competitors at the event include Eryn Kielo from Delisle who is competing in the 3000m women's Steeplechase, and Adriann De Necker from Kyle who is competing in the men's Sevens Rugby tournament. Another Delisle native, Jordan Durham is competing in men's softball, while Rosetown's Hailey Burton is also competing in softball on the women's side. Kash Meyers from Lucky Lake is on the men's volleyball team, and then rounding out the list a local wrestler is in the mix, Wilkie's Avi'endha Beaugrand who's competing in the up to 80 KG weight class. Brittany Marshall from Kyle is coaching the women's beach volleyball squad.

Team Saskatchewan is made up of 488 members, with 377 athletes across 19 sports joining 85 coaches, and 26 mission staff to represent the province on a national stage. The flag bearer was Hayden Kot, a dual sport athlete in basketball and volleyball.
Saskatchewan picked up it's first medal on Tuesday morning, Regina’s Baer Robertson winning bronze in the Canoe Kayak. Roberston’s time was 5:31.775. Ontario and Quebec currently lead the way with 19 and 17 medals. Saskatchewan will look to improve on the 32 medals earned at the 2022 Canada Summer Games.
The first week of action features baseball (male), basketball (male and female), beach volleyball, box lacrosse (female), canoe kayak, road cycling, rugby sevens (male and female), sailing, soccer (male), softball (female), swimming, and tennis.

The second week of competition will see artistic swimming, athletics, baseball (female), box lacrosse (male), mountain bike cycling, diving, golf, soccer (female), softball (male), volleyball (male and female), and wrestling.
