On Aug. 9, 2025, at approximately 07:41 AM, Grande Prairie Rural RCMP received a call regarding a male slumped over the wheel in a vehicle in the middle of the road. Police attended and observed a male driver, who was later arrested, heavily asleep in the vehicle, with drug paraphernalia in plain view.
A search of the vehicle incidental to arrest resulted in the seizure of:
- $2080 in Canadian currency
- 99 grams of suspected methamphetamine;
- 19 grams of suspected fentanyl;
- Drug trafficking paraphernalia;
- A loaded crossbow;
- A flame thrower; and
- A prohibited knife.
Some of the drugs were stored in a backpack labeled “Support your local drug dealer”.
As a result of the investigation, Fraser Pearson (40), a resident of Dawson Creek, BC, was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl;
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine;
- Fail to comply with probation order (x2);
- Weapons possession contrary to order (x2);
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon; and
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Pearson was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Aug. 11, 2025.
