The City of Grande Prairie is helping residents and visitors get to one of the region’s biggest music events by offering free evening transit after 6 p.m. and extending its regular fixed-route service hours for the Bear Creek Folk Festival.

The City is proud to contribute through sponsorship funding and enhanced transit service, as the festival welcomes thousands of visitors to experience the vibrant spirit and hospitality of Grande Prairie, while generating over a million dollars in impact to our local economy.

Festival-goers can use transit all day during the event weekend with free rides after 6 p.m. to and from the main event each evening. This makes it easy to get to Muskoseepi Park for the shows and back home afterward without the need to drive.

Extended Service Hours

Festival-goers taking transit can use Stop 838 at the Muskoseepi Park east entrance (102 Street between 101 and 102 Avenues) to catch Route 8 to the Towne Centre Mall and transfer to any fixed route.

While each route offers extended hours throughout the city for the festival weekend, the following late-night departures from Stop 838 have been added to provide a convenient way to leave the event:

·Friday and Saturday: 9:41 p.m. and 11:01 p.m.

.Sunday: 7:01 p.m., 8:21 p.m. and 9:41 p.m.

Last Departure Time

Following the final performance each night, transit will be available direct to fixed-route neighbourhoods using existing bus stops. Each bus will have signs indicating which areas they will be serving. Transit buses will be available at the east park entrance near the amphitheatre on 102 Street starting at midnight on Friday and Saturday, and 11 p.m. on Sunday. The final buses will leave no later than 12:30 a.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Please note the festival’s final performance may run later than its planned end time, so riders are encouraged to be at the bus boarding area before the final departure times to ensure a ride home.
