Severe thunderstorms rolled across west-central Saskatchewan late Wednesday afternoon, prompting a tornado warning and pelting communities with large hail.
Storms began developing shortly after 3 p.m. near the Alberta border, quickly organizing into a long, linear band stretching from Meadow Lake south to Eatonia.
At about 3:30 p.m., a tornado warning was issued for Mantario, just west of Eatonia, after radar indicated possible rotation. The warning was lifted roughly 30 minutes later.
Golf ball-sized hail was reported in the area, alongside strong wind gusts as the storms pushed east through the province into the evening.
The unsettled weather marked the latest in a series of active systems sweeping across the Prairies this week.
On Thursday, cooler temperatures settled over Saskatchewan, while the severe weather threat shifted east into Manitoba.
