The Alberta Open Farm Days returns for its 13th annual edition.
On Saturday (Aug. 16) and Sunday, farms across the province will open up their gates to the public. Wheatland County participants include Field Stone Fruit Wines and Eagle Lake Nurseries.
Throughout the weekend, Field Stone Fruit Wines will offer guided tours of its 50-acre orchard. Guests can sample wines and speak directly with the winery's growers and winemakers to learn more about the wine-making process.
The raspberry U-Pick is also ongoing and will be available to visitors over the weekend.
Eagle Lake Nurseries is offering a look at its 1,000-acre operation. On Saturday, the nursery will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with guided tours starting at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. Participants must register for the tours.
A special pop-up plant sale will also be available on site for those looking to spruce up their yards and gardens.
The two-day event provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse at Alberta's agriculture and the everyday operations happening just beyond residents ' backyards.
