The provincial government is investing in elevator modernization projects at two government-owned buildings, including the Court of King’s Bench in Battleford.

Work at the courthouse is expected to begin in September 2025 and will involve upgrades to the existing elevator system, including new interior finishes along with updated mechanical and electrical components.

The province says the improvements are aimed at boosting safety, reliability, energy efficiency and performance. Officials note that the upgrades will also bring the system in line with current codes while reducing maintenance costs by replacing outdated equipment.

“By modernizing infrastructure, we are ensuring these facilities remain accessible, efficient and ready to serve Saskatchewan people for many years to come,” SaskBuilds and Procurement Minister David Marit said in a release. “These upgrades are an important investment in the safety and reliability of our government buildings.”

Similar work has already started at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation building in Regina. Both projects are scheduled for completion by the winter of 2026.

The province says maintaining public buildings remains a priority to ensure safe and reliable services for Saskatchewan residents.
