For months, the Steinbach community has been rallying behind Tasha Wiese as she recovers from a life-changing amputation and ongoing health challenges.

The road has been long, but she continues to find encouragement in the love and support of her family, and even from her four-legged companion.

When CHVN’s Mike Thom called to check in this week, Wiese answered with her usual warmth. “Just seeing my family and then my dog as well,” she shared when asked what’s been keeping her spirits up.

She also mentioned one important milestone she is looking forward to: “Recovering and that hopefully I can go home on the 27 [of August].”

That date has now become a point of focus for thousands of people who follow Wiese’s story. Thom promised to share her update widely, ensuring that people continue cheering her on for a smooth recovery and a timely return home.

During the call, Thom spoke with Wiese about her long history of giving back. Whether working with children, volunteering at concerts, or helping at community events, she’s been a familiar and friendly face at countless gatherings around southern Manitoba.

“It’s been a real testimony to how much you’ve given to others,” Thom told her. “Now in your time of need, everybody’s stepping up and it really shows how much you’re loved.”

Knowing her love for live music, Thom had one more piece of news to share. “As a little welcome home present, we want to hook you up with two tickets to see Zach Williams on September 6 in Steinbach, with Jordan St. Cyr.”

“That’s awesome. Thank you,” Wiese responded, her voice lighting up.

Wiese, a local daycare worker, has been in hospital since March 10th. She lost both hands and her legs above the knees due to severe health complications.
