Teen arrested after fatal shooting of 13-year-old in northern Manitoba

A 13-year-old boy is dead after being shot by another youth.

Cross Lake RCMP say responded to the report of a shooting at around 5:40 p.m. at a residence located in Pimicikamak Cree Nation.

When they arrived, they located a 13-year-old boy who had been shot. He was transported to the Nursing Station where he was pronounced deceased.

A 17-year-old was arrested at the scene and a firearm seized. 

The death is being treated as a homicide.

RCMP are not searching for additional suspects.

Cross Lake RCMP, along with RCMP Major Crimes Services and Forensic Identification Services, continue to investigate.
