A Zealandia woman is $100,000 richer after matching the last six digits in a recent EXTRA draw.
Laura Penny purchased her winning ticket at the Red Apple store in Rosetown for the July 23 LOTTO 6/49 draw. She said she always adds EXTRA to her tickets, just in case.
“I matched the numbers manually on the WCLC website. I always do it manually,” Penny said with a laugh. “At first I thought I’d won $100, then $1,000, and then I realized I won more.”
The winning number was 6786123. Penny handed the ticket to her husband to double-check before realizing she had in fact won the full $100,000 prize.
The Zealandia resident said the windfall will go toward paying off her mortgage, making a few purchases and stocking up on groceries.
“It feels so unreal, it still doesn’t feel like it’s happening,” she said.
For more than 50 years, proceeds from Sask Lotteries have supported over 12,000 sport, culture and recreation groups across Saskatchewan. Since 1974, lottery sales have raised more than $1.4 billion for community initiatives.
