After years of planning, the City of Grande Prairie broke ground on Monday, August 18, 2025 on the Multisport Dome at Trader Ridge. The dome will provide residents year-round access to a full-size FIFA regulation field with flexible configurations to support soccer, football, rugby, and track & field sports.
“The Multisport Dome is more than a place to play. It’s a year-round hub for activity, a driver of sport tourism, and a key investment in our city's future,” said Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton. “It shows our commitment to quality of life and cements Grande Prairie’s role as a leader in sport tourism and regional development."
The County of Grande Prairie is supporting the City, contributing up to $2.8 million towards the actual construction cost. This investment reflects the shared commitment of both municipalities to enhance regional recreation opportunities and ensure residents across the region benefit from high-quality sports infrastructure.
Construction is expected to begin in September 2025, with completion anticipated by July 2026.
