It's been a busy start to August for the Biggar RCMP.

The first call back on the fourth took members to the remnants of a rural crime scene, as described by Cst. Chad Mehl with the detachment.

"On August 4th, thieves attempted unsuccessfully to get a water cannon from a farm outside of Biggar, but didn’t get far by clipping it on nearby farm equipment, damaging the axles of the water cannon."

On August 5 members gained reports of a couple of minor assaults, though the complainants decided not to proceed. That same day police received three suspicious individuals reports, one of which resulting in a ride request back to Cando.

The next call came on August 7 relating to a dispute between a landlord and tenant. Officers created a presence on scene, and the squabble was mediated into the latter part of the evening.

Friday, August 8 resulted in the headline call as an intoxicated male was arrested after causing problems at a residence outside of town. The weekend might not have started off on the right foot, but members gave him a place to stay until sober so he could figure it out in the morning.

The weekend stayed busy with a complaint of an assault on Saturday, August 9, officers opening investigation with no further details given. The week of calls then wrapped up on Sunday as a stolen vehicle from Saskatoon was located near Asquith and returned to its owner.
