It is time for another music night at Altona's scenic Gallery in the Park, this time around, past Made in Manitoba guests Casati will be taking the outdoor stage on Thursday August 21st.
Casati
Gallery Curator, Manager and Events Coordinator Renae Friesen touched on what we can expect from Casati, "So they are self-described as a folk trio with an open mind. They have a variety of different songs and music. There's a couple different instruments that they play. They've got amazing three-part harmonies and they're just a group that's easy to listen to and very enjoyable to hear."
Casati is best characterized as a folk trio with an open mind. Grace Hrabi, Jesse Popeski, and Quintin Bart are formally trained musicians, graduates of the University of Manitoba's jazz studies program. Over the past ten years the trio has released two albums, There Will Be Days (2017) and This Is Just To Say (2019), finding their style in a unique blend of all the music that inspires them: the heartbreak of a country ballad, the vocal harmonies of 1950's and 60's pop, and the instrumental virtuosity of jazz and classical music, creating a sound that is familiar yet original.
We have also featured them on our Made in Manitoba program before and you may recall that an exciting part of their group is one of the members plays a very unique instrument called the "Hurdy Gurdy". (pictured below)
