It's opening day of the Saskatchewan Senior Fitness 55+ Provincial Games in Swift Current.
"It's exciting," said Chair of the local organizing Teagan Gader. "We've had lots come in and register. Everyone is very excited."
Gader anticipates having approximately 370 participants and 50 guests in Swift Current for the games.
"Great weather and we've got lots of volunteers helping out," she noted. "A lot of time has been put into this organizing, scheduling, and I think everyone is just excited it's finally here and happening."
The opening ceremony is set for 5:30 pm at the InnovationPlex curling rink.
"We're having a big banquet," Gader said, "Everyone is coming for supper. There will be speeches and music after. It'll be good."
She invites anyone to check out the events with some impressive performances on display over the next few days.
Pickleball and Slo Pitch open the games, getting underway at 8:00 am today. Bowling starts at 9:00 am at the Social Bowl, while golf begins at 10:00 am at Chinook Golf Course.Â
Track activities open at 11:00 am at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School.
