District #7 finished in seventh at the 2025 U13 District Showcase in Regina this past weekend, taking the second last spot after downing the only other group with a local connection, Team Southwest with Leader native Colby Tiringer, in their final game on Sunday.

Representing "Rivers West", District 7 is the local region for most West Central athletes despite its northern border stretching all the way up to Meadow Lake. Two local players were on the team, Zaida Heck from Unity and Addison Molberg from Biggar, joining assistant coaches Tamara and Emily Molberg.

Rivers West tournament started off on Friday night with a 19-9 loss to a good Lakeland team. Returning to the diamond on Saturday, Rivers West lost 16-6 to Southeast and then lost again 4-2 in the evening portion as they kept things a little closer against Parkland Valley but still wound up winless in pool play.

With the standings settled after Saturday, District 7's tournament run ended on Sunday as all teams in Regina were given a game on the final day regardless of playoff standings. Team Rivers West matched up against also 0-3 Team Southwest (District 3) in the 7/8 place game, a close game ending 8-7 for Rivers West as all athletes involved experienced a thrilling end to their season.
