Michael Iskander, the actor who portrays David in the show House of David, has recently confessed his faith in God publicly.
"Today is a very special day, that looking back has been a long time in the making," says Iskander on Instagram. "Today I joined the Catholic faith. I’ve felt a calling to this church for a long time, and as time went on, this calling became louder and louder."
House of David season one is available on Prime Video streaming platform and tells the story of young David as a shepherd and musician as King Saul's empire starts to crumble. While the show follows the Biblical story found in 1 Samuel, it also takes some artistic liberties in filling in the gaps.
"Eventually I ran into some really amazing people that helped me along the way. And rather than being the end of the road, this is the beginning of the journey."
The show is being recognized not only for its high-quality production and acting, but also in the Christian world of sharing the gospel on screen. The show won the TV/Streaming Impact Award at the 2025 K-LOVE Fan Awards.
"This show has changed my life in every way," Iskander said while accepting the award. "This show has inspired me to take down my giants, and I want you to know if the Lord is with you, you can take down yours."
The second season of House of David is set to be released on streaming services in the fall.
"My heart is so full, and my spirit is filled with joy," said Iskander on his social media. "Today we wrapped filming on Season 2 of House of David. And oh what a journey it has been. I cannot wait for you to see this season."
