The Saskatchewan Senior Fitness 55+ Provincial Games wrapped up yesterday after three days in Swift Current.

"I feel really good," said Chair of the local organizing committee Teagan Gader. "I heard a lot of compliments. I think everything ran pretty smooth."

With several hundred people participating in the game the committee was happy to showcase Swift Current.

"Just bringing all these people to Swift Current showing the facilities we have," Gader said. "I heard from one couple they're going to look at houses down here. They just love our green space and how clean it is. It's good to hear that stuff."

The games came together quite quickly in Swift Current.

"We started in January," Gader said. "It was a bit of a job finding the committee. Everybody was helpful, did their jobs, and made it a success."

She also hosted the 55+ bowling at The Social Bowl over the last few days.

"The bowling was fantastic," Gader noted. "We had teams win out of the social bowl. I added it up and I think we bowled 560 games over two and a half days. It was good."

The games will actually resume briefly on October 14th and 15th for the curling event at InnovationPlex.

SSFA President Al Gabert noted in his closing address that two communities are bidding for the 2027 games. He doesn't expect another national 55+ games until at least 2028.
