Le St. Malo Street Bash kicked off tonight with tons of activities and will continue through the rest of the weekend.
The fun is back after many years without a summer celebration in St. Malo.
Chairperson Charlene Geiler says the community was due for some summer fun.
“We have seen so many people excited about this. We haven't had a festival in a long time.”
Geiler and a group of 10 board volunteers organized the event to bring in some festival fun.
“So, we got together as a group to organize something. And now that it's all here, it’s looking great.”
Food trucks, beer gardens, a story time, and a movie began the celebrations tonight, with fireworks to follow at 9:15 p.m.
The celebrations are far from over. Saturday starts off with a parade at 9:30 a.m., followed by a farmers' market, scavenger hunt, and kids' carnival that carries on into the evening.
Starting at 11 a.m., there will be street hockey till dark, face painting, bouncy castles, and a character meet and greet with Ariel and Spiderman. The afternoon brings tons more to see and do.
The evening will begin to wind down with a car show, cornhole, beer gardens, and food trucks.
Sunday closes off the weekend of celebrations with street hockey tournament finals, children's entertainment, lawn games, and music.
