On Saturday morning, August 30, 2025, at approximately 10:05 am, Killarney RCMP were notified of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of highway 23 and highway 5 in the RM of Argyle.
Officers responded immediately and located a pickup truck, and a SUV both in the southwest ditch. Emergency Medical Services and the local fire department were already on scene.
It was determined the pickup truck travelling southbound on highway 5 collided with the SUV that was travelling westbound towards Belmont on highway 23, forcing it to roll several times into the ditch. The driver of the SUV, a 77-year-old male from Killarney received medical treatment on scene but was declared deceased. He was the only occupant of the SUV.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 17-year-old male from the RM of North Cypress, was not injured in the collision and was the sole occupant.
RCMP arrested and charged the youth with dangerous operation of motor vehicle causing death.
Killarney RCMP and Manitoba RCMP Traffic Analyst continue to investigate.
