People using handyDART services in Fort St. John will see improved and expanded travel options with the introduction of additional hours of service on Sundays from September 2025.

“Expanding handyDART service on Sundays means more people in Fort St. John will have access to safe, reliable transit when they need it most,” said George Anderson, parliamentary secretary for transit. “This expansion supports independence and mobility for those who rely on custom transit and reflects our commitment to building inclusive, connected communities across B.C.”

To support the increasing need for handyDART service for people throughout the province, BC Transit and the B.C. government are partnering with Fort St. John local government to expand handyDART service in the region with more than 500 annual service hours. This builds on the work done throughout B.C. to provide improved transit services and connect communities.

The additional service of more than 500 hours will extend handyDART service on Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Investing in the local transit system ensures that the services offered are dependable for people in Fort St. John and the surrounding communities.

The expanded service supports people using handyDART services in Fort St. John and ensures that they have continued access to reliable public transit. The additional hours will improve frequency of service on Sundays for people using handyDART services in the community.

The ministry has continued to increase its operating funding for BC Transit to ensure people outside Metro Vancouver continue to have access to the transit services they need. Since 2017, the ministry has increased the provincial operating grant to BC Transit by approximately 70%, supporting transit service levels in the province and continuing to implement transit expansion that will benefit people throughout B.C.
