The Strathmore Municipal Election takes place next month, and candidates are putting out signs and campaigning across the community.
There are currently 13 candidates running in the election: with eleven candidates for council and two candidates for mayor.
Here is the full timeline of the 2025 Municipal Election in Strathmore:
Jan. 1 - Nomination period begins.
Mar. 3 - 2024 campaign disclosure statements are due.
May 1 - Election advertising period begins.
Aug. 21 - Election signs may be put up.
Sept. 22 - Nominations Close
Oct. 15 and Oct. 17 - Advance voting days, with polls open between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Oct. 20 - Election day, with the election advertising period ending.
After that, those who are elected will go through onboarding sessions before needing to remove election signs by Oct. 27. The campaign period officially ends on Dec. 31.
The following day will mark the start of the campaign period for the 2029 election. However, candidates cannot be nominated until the start of that year.
Residents must register to vote in the upcoming municipal election.
