It was a great start for the Eastman Selects who won both their games on Friday night at the Stoney Creek Showcase.
In the first game, the Selects went up against the Nepean Wildcats, winning 2-0.
"Our forecheck was pretty consistent, and strong," coach Trevor Hildebrand said proudly. "We got a few timely stops from call up netminder Delaney Dreger."
Dreger is getting the opportunity because both regular Selects goalies because they are playing in the U18 Team Manitoba vs U of M series this weekend.
Game two produced another nailbiter, needing overtime time to decide a winner, and again, it would be the Selects celebrating, this time after a 1-0 win.
"Similar to game one, we dominated in the zone time and puck possession," Hildebrand explains. "We struggled a bit to convert on scoring chances. Defensively, we were quite stingy."
The Selects have another two games on Saturday, first at 12:45 p.m. against the Cambridge Roadrunners, followed by a 7:50 p.m. contest against the Cornwall Lady Royals.
