For Brent Gertridge, the last 12 months have been surprising, rewarding and very, very busy.
“It’s been a busy year, and I’m so grateful for the incredible support from the Portage la Prairie community,” he says. “People have been really welcoming and supportive.”
Gertridge, who assumed ownership of Dino’s Appliance & Mattress Centre late last summer, says he was pleasantly surprised with how the community rallied around the longtime Portage business. From the get-go, he noticed that folks were excited to see the store continue – something that made his first year as owner so rewarding.
In celebration of the milestone, and as a thank-you to its patrons and the Portage business community, Dino’s will host a BBQ and sales event on Friday, September 12. Customers will be able to take advantage of savings throughout the day, and between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. (rain or shine) they can enjoy a hot dog, chips and a drink. The BBQ will be by donation, and all proceeds will support Portage Service for Seniors.
“All are welcome,” says Gertridge. “It’ll be a fun day for customers and the community.”
Those who haven’t stopped by Dino’s in the last year will notice a few changes to the store’s layout, as well as a number of new product lines.
“Overall, we’re keeping it as welcoming as always,” Gertridge says.
That friendly atmosphere has been a Dino’s hallmark from the start, as has a reputation for reliable service and an inventory of quality mattresses, vacuums and appliances for kitchen and laundry. Dino’s is also an All-Inclusive GE Dealer and provides a complete range of GE, GE Profile, GE Cafe, Monogram, Moffat and Haier appliances.
More personally, Gertridge says he’s appreciated a sense of being part of a supportive local business network.
“It’s been great to be recognized when I pop into other businesses or when folks stop by our store,” he says. “I’d just like to give a big thank-you to everyone for their support this year. We’re excited and looking forward to many more years ahead.”
