Before and after Freedom Foods in Landmark got new gas pumps
Categories

For more than two decades, Freedom Foods has quietly been Landmark’s one-stop shop for practically everything a resident might need – without the drive to Steinbach. Today, that mammoth effort is on full display as the newly renovated Freedom Foods prepares to unveil its upgrades with a grand reopening and community celebration.

A full-service hub, built over time

Russ Trudeau, co-owner of Freedom Foods, explains how the location at 236 Main Street has grown into a whirlwind of convenience. “We’ve got a fantastic restaurant inside that features fast, fresh, and delicious food every day – such as pizza, sandwiches, and soups!” Taken together, the offerings make the station feel like “a place that has it all” – a rare combination in such a small town.

That didn’t happen overnight. The business, family-run for the past 22 years, expanded gradually through “three big renovations – two inside the store and now this one, outside” Russ says, and was recently enhanced with a major exterior overhaul. The latest facelift added new fuel pumps (doubling from three to six), replaced a patchy, dust‑plagued lot with brand‑new asphalt and parking lines, and exchanged bumps and potholes for a much smoother customer experience.

Grand reopening: more than just a ribbon-cutting

Russ and his team are celebrating with a customer appreciation event running Friday, Sept. 12 through Sunday, Sept. 28, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. daily.

“It’s been an 11‑month project,” he says. “We appreciate our customers staying patient – even with pumps and the store shut down at times – so this is for them.”

Expect a smorgasbord of savings and fun:

  • Friesen Built is setting up shop on the lot, offering deck and BBQ equipment, outdoor wood furnaces, and deluxe hot tubs – down from $19,900 to $7,990 (only 10 in stock).
  • Gas sale: On Monday, Sept. 15 – from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. – fuel will be 15¢ per litre off, thanks to cooperation with Clearview Co‑op.

  • Outdoor barbecues, every Friday (Sept. 12, 19, 26), courtesy of Unger Meats: hot dogs, hamburgers & farmer’s sausage burgers $1.97!
  • Krispy Kreme Doughnut Fridays! The BEST, freshly made doughnuts! While quantities last.

Keeping it local

“We want to show reinvestment in our community,” says Russ. “Putting profits back into the business means a better customer experience. So this grand reopening – and all the savings, giveaways, bells and whistles – are really for the folks of Landmark.”

Russ adds that the event is being promoted through flyers, social media, and radio, and promises “many more deals” still to come.

With its expanded services, a carefully paved lot, and nearly three weeks of special offers and festivities, Freedom Foods is hosting more than a grand re-opening – they’re making it easy to shop local, without compromise.

The Freedom Foods grand re-opening and community celebration runs September 12th to 28th at 239 Main Street, Landmark.
