It was a mix of veterans and young guns in the lineup on Monday night as the Kindersley Jr. Klippers went on the road and took down the Humboldt Broncos 3-1 from Elgar Petersen Arena.

Both sides came out firing in the first period hitting double digits in the shot column. With under five minutes to go it was Kindersley taking the early lead as Brock Evans potted a powerplay goal, assisted by Klippers defenseman Jaxon Herchak who wasted no time in his return to the Klippers lineup after spending WHL training camp with the Prince Albert Raiders.

The second period got off to a rocky start for Kindersley as Gabriel Kaminski scored for Humboldt to tie things up four minutes into the second, and then a few minutes later the Klippers successfully killed off a penalty to keep the game 1-1. The deadlock lasted for about ten minutes until defenseman Austin Osioswy found the back of the net to restore the Klippers one goal lead entering the third period.

With two powerplays to end the second, and then another pair including a double minor to start the third, the Klippers had multiple chances for an insurance marker but wound up 1/8 on the night. Near fisticuffs then broke out halfway through the final frame as three players on either side were given game misconducts.

The one goal game settled down in the final five minutes as the penalty boxes filled, but the door swung open again with under three minutes to play as Klippers forward Carter Cole took a goaltender interference penalty to give Humboldt life, momentum lasting just under a minute as Klippers offseason addition out of the WHL, Van Eger, scored a shorthanded empty netter to seal the Klippers win.

It was Kindersley's third straight victory of the pre-season, the Klippers only loss so far coming in their first game against the AJHL's Drumheller Dragons, the Klippers opponent at home on Wednesday night as they wrap up the pre-season.

After Wednesday's game the team will have just over a week to prepare for the start of the SJHL regular season. The Klippers 2025-2026 season starts September 19 on the road in North Battleford, the home opener set for the next night September 20 as part of Goose Festival Weekend in Kindersley.
