They already do a lot at Griffin Road Medical Clinic. From prenatal and pediatric care to psychiatry, driver’s medicals and dedicated women’s and men’s medicine, the clinic’s
physicians offer a comprehensive suite of services at their Cochrane location. And yet, they’re always thinking of what else they can do to help the residents of Cochrane and the surrounding area.
“We are highly motivated to do more,” says Dr. Uche Nwadike, owner and operator. “Every day we are thinking of how we can make healthcare more accessible to the community.”
Having been open for slightly more than a year, Griffin Road Medical Clinic is already moving to expand its services to reach even more patients.
From Monday through Friday, it’s extending its hours from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., ensuring people who can’t come in during working hours can still access care in the evening. (Saturday hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.) Additionally, it is now offering all-day walk-in services.
“We noticed there wasn’t a clinic in Cochrane that stayed open until 8:00 p.m., and as a result a lot of people were going to urgent care for things that could have been sorted out at the clinic level,” Dr. Nwadike explains. “What we’re trying to do is provide more service while reducing pressure on the urgent care centre.”
Griffin Road has also hired another doctor with experience in emergency and family medicine, Dr. Abimbola Uwaoluetan popularly called Dr. Bola. Trained in the U.K., he decided to move to Cochrane after visiting the town and falling in love with the community. He bolsters a medical team that already employs male and female doctors who can communicate with patients in English, Russian and Ukrainian.
“We’re trying to create a one-stop medical shop where you can see a pediatric specialist, you can see a psychiatrist and you can access men’s, women’s and family medicine,” says Dr. Nwadike. “As well, next year we’ll be providing medical aesthetics and interventional procedures for migraine headaches and nerve blockage.”
The clinic’s growth, Dr. Nwadike points out, could not be happening without the trust and support of the community.
“We appreciate the town of Cochrane and the community in general for their support and love,” he says. “We can’t do this without the partnerships we build within the community, and we’re committed to providing the best service we can.”
