Soulful Sanctuary isn’t just an event business – it’s a heartfelt project born from deep roots and shared vision. Based in Cochrane and co-founded by friends Hannah Wallace and Jade Fraser, the venture is dedicated to bringing people together through holistic and spiritual experiences that nourish both body and soul.
“Our goal with Soulful Sanctuary is community, not competition,” says Jade, a Cochrane local who has watched the town grow alongside her. “We want to create spaces where people can connect, explore different spiritual practices, and leave feeling more grounded and uplifted.”
Monthly retreats and private gatherings
At the heart of Soulful Sanctuary are its monthly events – day-long retreats curated to feature a rotating lineup of spiritual and holistic practitioners. Each retreat spans six to eight hours and offers guests a mix of workshops, one-on-one sessions, wholesome meals, games, and activities – all chosen with intention.
“No two events are the same,” says Hannah. “We tailor each one based on the practitioners we bring in and the energy we want to cultivate. Every event ends with a sound bath to help raise the vibration and offer a peaceful close.”
In addition to public gatherings, Soulful Sanctuary offers private bookings for occasions like bachelorette parties, family reunions, or girls’ nights. These custom experiences are co-designed with the client to reflect their intentions, ensuring every detail resonates with the group’s needs.
A diverse network of practitioners
The retreats showcase an ever-changing array of modalities – everything from Reiki and card reading to holistic facials, pendulum workshops, and tea leaf readings. A recent session even included an intuitive skincare treatment with reflexology and energy work.
“We really want to broaden people’s minds about what’s out there,” says Jade. “Whether it’s something well-known or more niche, we’re here to introduce it in a welcoming way.”
For newcomers who may feel hesitant, the founders say their calm presence helps ease nerves.
“People tend to open up to us naturally,” says Hannah. “We just meet everyone where they are – there’s no judgment, just a lot of hugs and support.”
Supporting local creators
Soulful Sanctuary also features a retail component at its events, inviting vendors to share spiritual goods and handmade items that complement the experience. One regular presence is Divine Pyramids, founded by Hannah’s mother-in-law, which offers orgonite pyramids believed to infuse spaces with positive energy.
Another recent collaborator, Tandem Crystal, brought a booth and led an intuition game. “We love creating opportunities for local makers and spiritual entrepreneurs to connect with the community,” says Hannah.
Rooted in Cochrane
For Jade and Hannah, Cochrane isn’t just a backdrop – it’s home. Jade, who was born and raised in the town, feels a special pride in watching both the community and their spiritual practice evolve together.
“Starting this business here means everything,” she says. “I even see my former teachers at our events. It’s full circle.”
Hannah, who moved frequently growing up, says Cochrane was the first place that truly felt like home. “There’s something about the energy here – it’s open, connected, and welcoming. It’s the perfect place for what we’re building.”
