Northwestern Polytechnic (NWP) is expanding its career-focused programming with three new pathways for students to embark on during the Winter 2026 semester.

Along with the addition of a brand new one-year Information Technology Specialist certificate, NWP is moving up the launch of the previously announced Graphic Design diploma and opening a second intake of the in-demand Social Work diploma.

Developed in response to labour market demand and student interest, these additions will broaden opportunities for learners seeking to build impactful, future-ready careers.

Information Technology Specialist Certificate – A one-year credential equipping students with practical skills in areas such as cybersecurity, software development, and network administration.

Social Work Diploma – A two-year program preparing graduates to support individuals, families, and communities through advocacy, counselling, and service coordination.

Graphic Design Diploma – A two-year program blending creativity and technical expertise for careers in branding, digital media, marketing, and visual communication.

In addition to partnerships with future employers, NWP has been collaborating with northern post-secondary providers to expand learner opportunities. The much-anticipated IT Specialist certificate has been made possible by a partnership with Keyano College, who have shared responsibilities in the course development and course programming. As part of this program, a joint hyflex course for learners from both institutions will be delivered in the first semester.

Applications for the Winter 2026 intake are now open. Visit NWP.me/Programs to explore full program details and secure your spot.
