The fourth annual Wheatland County Food Bank's Community Wide Food Drive took place over the weekend.

The Food Bank gave out tags to residents and encouraged them to put food out on their doorsteps on Saturday (Sept. 13) morning.

Executive director of the Wheatland County Food Bank, Lynette Aschenbrenner, explained why the event is important.

"There are a lot of people in our community who are struggling right now. Food insecurity is something that many people are facing right now with the high prices and job loss. We just want to make sure that we have the resources to support those who need us in the community."

The food bank was able to raise 4,652 pounds of food throughout the food drive.

According to Aschenbrenner, more people are using the food bank than in previous years.
