Watchdog clears RCMP in 2022 Grande Prairie in-custody death

Alberta’s police watchdog has cleared RCMP officers in a 2022 in-custody death in Grande Prairie.

The individual was arrested for public mischief and later died after a medical episode in a holding cell.

ASIRT found staff failed to recognize the medical distress for more than two hours.

Crown prosecutors ruled no charges will be laid against the officers involved.
