Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for the areas of Kenora, Whitedog, Grassy Narrows, Dryden, Vermilion Bay, Ignace, and English River.
Temperatures are expected to be between minus 26 degrees and minus 36, with windchill values between minus 40 and 45 degrees.
The extreme cold warning is expected tonight and into Wednesday morning.
The agency is reminding people to watch for cold-related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness, and colour change in fingers and toes.
Also to cover up as frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
If it's too cold for you to stay outside, it's too cold for your pet to stay outside.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.
