Harvey Scott

JULY 23, 1973 – DECEMBER 26, 2021

It is with great sorrow that the family of Harvey Scott announce his passing on December 26, 2021, at the age of 48. Harvey was born on July 23, 1973 in Kenora, Ontario and was raised in Wabaseemoong Ontario. Harvey was a loving son, father, shoomis, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, and a friend.

As a young child, through the teachings of his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, Harvey was exposed to various cultural traditional teachings. He became very knowledgeable in hunting, fishing, trapping, and wild rice/berry picking. This love for the outdoors continued into his adulthood, where Harvey enjoyed spending his time fishing, boating, shore lunches, hunting, trapping, snaring, swimming and spending time with his children and friends. He also enjoyed going on road trips, gambling/bingos, barbeques and participating in fishing derbies. Some of his favorite hobbies as an adult were purchasing tools/equipment he needed in order to work on cars, trucks and other machines that required his special touch. He also enjoyed country music, with Ernest Monias being his favorite musician.

Harvey had an awesome sense of humour and he always found a way to make people laugh. If Harvey felt comfort with your presence, he would tease you and there was always laughter when he was around. Harvey made new friends easily and throughout the years, he had acquired a few nicknames for himself, some include ‘peewee’, ‘dirty pierre’, ‘the king’ and ‘chocolate friend’. Family was also very important to Harvey, he always remembered to call to check in, especially with his mom, his sister Jackie, and his Auntie Celene. His children very also very special to him, he did what he could to show them the love he had for them. Harvey will be remembered by them for his awesome sense of humour, his love, and his kindness.

Although Harvey tried to live life to the fullest, health problems got in the way and his body started to deteriorate in recent years. Harvey is now at peace, reunited with his father Archie, brother Mike and sister Adeline. He was also predeceased by his former partner Mary Mentuck, his maternal grandparents Alice and John Scott, and paternal grandparents Peter and Sophie Fisher. Also, pre-deceased are Aunts/Uncles; George Scott, Robert Scott (Bob), Josephine Fisher, Cecilia Scott, Emma Fisher, Eva Fisher, Mary Fisher, John Fisher, Cornelius Fisher, Charlie Fisher, Henry Fisher, Archie Fisher, George Fisher, Daniel Fisher and Margaret Kent, and many cousins.

Harvey will be missed by his mama Irene, his children; Joelynn (Maurico Sr.) Scott, Anna (Raine) Scott and Jessie Scott, Avery Scott-Mentuck and Trayson Scott-Mentuck, his grandchildren; Mayela and Kiana, his siblings; Jackie (Glenn) Cameron, Veronica Scott, Debbie Scott (Frank, father to her children), Leon (Wanda) Scott and Neil Scott, nephews/nieces; Gerilyn Fisher, Chabit Glen Jr. Fisher, Starleen Fisher (Jenn), Micheala Fisher, Melina Mandamin (Cody), Mikey Scott, Maverick Scott, Spencer Scott, and Damian Scott. He will be lovingly remembered by his uncles/aunts; Jim Fisher, Rose Fisher, Celene Scott, Amok Eliza Scott and Martin Scott, he also leaves behind his cousins; Catherine Jack, Anne Fisher, Chuck Fisher, Mike Fisher, Gabriel Henry, Cindy (Soong) Cameron, Dan Jr. Fisher, Sophie (Howard) Fisher, Donna Fisher, Debbie Fisher, Del Fisher, Donald Fisher, Dean Fisher, Marilyn Fisher, Eric Fisher (Anita), Eva McDonald, Tootum William Boyd, Peter Fisher, Archie Fisher, Ivan Fisher, Dean Beardmore, Marie Beardmore, Nona Fisher, Jacob Fisher, Leonard (Donna) Fisher, Helen Fisher, Georgina (Marvin) McDonald, Gary Scott, Arlene (Evans) Scott, Tiffany (Caesar) Langan, Brenda (Gordon) Halverson, Glenda Fisher, Vincent (Loretta) Fisher, Virginia Fisher, Laura Fisher, Derek Fisher, Lena Fisher, Moon Virginia (Dave) Pateman, Rusty Scott, Pootach Randy Scott, Greg Strang, Eugene Kejick, Gary Michaud, Gerald Michaud, Beatrice Michaud, Rebecca (Darren) McDonald, Cheeks Chris (Clara) Cameron, Cathy (Glen) Cameron, Marlen Scott, Amelia Scott, Alyssa Scott, Mason Scott, Katherine (last name unknown), Bobbi-Jo Lerat, Daniel Scott, Colton Scott, Clarence Kent, Alvin Kent, Matilda Kent, Rosemary Kejick and Joseph Kent. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Thunder Bay hospital staff, Kenora home support workers, Kenora Hospital Staff and the Staff at ‘Wiigas home for the age’ for all their time and dedication for looking after Harvey. Harvey’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest by his father Archie.

Due to COVID a private family visitation will be held on December 31, 2021 from 1:00pm to 8:00pm at Brown Funeral & Cremation Centre. Cremation to follow. A burial and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Due to the current Covid practices that are held in place, those attending, proof of double vaccination with a photo identification is required for entry and masks must be worn at all times.
