Robert Boden

OCTOBER 5, 1942 – JANUARY 15, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Boden at Pinecrest Home for the Aged in Kenora on January 15, 2022. Bob, the son of Anne and John Boden (pre-deceased), was born in St. Boniface and raised in McKenzie Island and Manitouwadge.

Sadly missed by brother Gary (Norma) Perth, Australia, sister Gail (Graham) Westmeath, and sister Judy (Stewart pre-deceased) Richmond Hill, and nieces Jacquie (Martin) and Lyndsay, and nephews Gary (Tracey), Terry (Sherri), Jason (Serena), and Ryan (Amanda), and cousin Teresa (Peter), and friend Dave (Shelley pre-deceased).

Bob was a business graduate of Ryerson University. He worked in many locations in the financial field: Toronto, Kirkland Lake, Elliot Lake, Wawa, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, Dryden and ending in Kenora at the Royal Bank followed by Investors Group.

Bob was passionate about sports- curling, golfing, boating and fishing. Golfing took up most of his later years where he was known as the Golf Organizer. When he wasn’t playing sports, he was watching them on television. The Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs were his favourite hockey teams. During the winter Bob’s routine consisted of going to the Curling Club at 7 a.m. for breakfast followed by playing cribbage. Bob had a large circle of friends centered around these sporting activities.

Bob was also active in his community mainly through his involvement with the Lions Club.

Dave Sabeski was Bob’s good friend and neighbour since 2004. Dave supported Bob during these past years and we are very grateful for his caring nature.

Thanks to everyone who visited Bob during his stay at Pinecrest. Special thanks to Pinecrest staff (including the palliative care team and their volunteers), Sandra Moss, and Karen and Gord Nordstrom.

There is no scheduled service at this time.

To commemorate Bob, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Online condolences may be left at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.
