On January 18th, 2022 in the early morning hours, Maria Concepcion (Connie) Chepil peacefully passed after a short battle with pulmonary fibrosis and congestive heart failure. After her terminal diagnosis in November 2021, she moved into her son’s home to enjoy her remaining time surrounded by her cherished family.

She is survived by Alexander Chepil her husband of 48 years, an older sister Lupita Lopez, children Devora Vaughan (nee Chepil) and husband Glen, Fausto Chepil and wife Dana Chepil, grand children Isaiah and Judah. Predeceased by parents, Jose Maria Rosales and Juana Nava Rosales; Siblings Eduardo, Jose, Taide, Victoria, Elodia, Vincente, Carmen, Lucina, Daniel; brother in-laws Ardele, Art, Bruce; Great nephew Josh, Great niece Katelynn.

Maria Concepcion Chepil was born in Tenancingo, Mexico, and was living in Acapulco, Mexico when she met her husband. Shortly after their engagement to be married they settled, in Kenora Ontario where she raised her family. She learned to love the outdoors, fishing and foraging in the forests with her family. She loved adventure and after retiring from her career as a LPN at Kenora District Hospital, she traveled extensively. Concepcion also joined many community groups, such as New Horizons Senior Centre, and was always on the go visiting family, friends and volunteering at her church with the Catholic Women’s League. She was always full of love, kindness and concern for those around her.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, January 25th, 2022 at Notre Dame Catholic Church - 222 1st St North Kenora, ON. A Prayer Service with viewing will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Monday January 24th, 2022 at 7:00pm. (For entry to the prayer service Proof of Vaccination, and photo identification are required.)

Funeral Service will be streamed via Connie’s Facebook account and Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Service streaming service.

In honor of Connie, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
