Theresia Martinec September 19, 1928 – January 21, 2022

On January 21, 2022 in the early morning hours, Theresia Martinec also known as Auntie Rosie, a resident of Pinecrest Home for the Aged passed away at the age of 93 years.

Auntie may be gone but never forgotten by Shelley (Tom), Telayna & Haley (her little schnuckels), Darlene (Butch), Jamie (grand-nieces Olivia & Julia), Ashley, Paul (Leslie), Jonah and many other nieces and nephews.

Auntie was born in Yugoslavia and moved to Kenora when she was 25. In her earlier years she loved life in Kenora, being out on the boat fishing, camping and blueberry picking. After retiring (25 years) as a linen attendant at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, she started doing what she loved most gardening.

A heartfelt thank you to all the PSW's, RPN's and RN's and an extended thank you to all staff from activation, dietary, housekeeping, dental to front office departments for the care, guidance and compassion during this difficult time. You will always be remembered for this.

A private Celebration of Auntie Rosie’s Life will be held at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.

In honour of Auntie donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alzheimer Society or to one’s charity of choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

Our Aunt Our aunt was a woman who had smiles made of sunshine to brighten your days and a heart that was solid gold who always made you feel good with her warm words of praise. And what’s more she knew what to do to make wishes come true. She was our aunt. Our aunt was someone who always had good stories to tell, but just as importantly she knew how to be a good listener as well. She was patient and kind and the very best aunt you could ever hope to find. She was no ordinary person. We are proud to tell the world that Auntie Rosie Was our aunt.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.brownfuneralhomekenora.com for the Martinec family.
