Premier Jason Kenney is headed stateside to speak with governors and U.S. federal officials.
He wants the U.S. and Canadian governments to ease quarantine rules for unvaccinated truckers.
"We don't think there's any compelling health reason for this given that there are millions of Canadians with active Omicron infections, tens of millions of Americans with infections, the vast majority of truckers are vaccinated and the governments had granted a multi-month exemption to this rule, we simply ask them to restore this exemption," Kenney says.
He wants to also work with U.S. legislators on trade issues like pipelines and the Buy American plan.
Alberta in 2020 exported $78-billion worth of goods and services to the U.S., our largest trading partner.

A lot of people want to see the Restriction Exemption Program come to an end.
Some are MLA's in Premier Jason Kenney's own party.
He says he'd like to see them end too, but now is not the time.
"I very much hope that we can move towards widespread relaxation of public health measures, including the proof of vaccination program in the foreseeable future once we see the pressure on hospitals start to trend down," Kenney says.
Kenney said when the measures were brought in last September he couldn't see them being in place later than the end of the first quarter in 2022, which puts it at the end of March.
