Joseph Hill

AUGUST 23, 1962 – JANUARY 3, 2022

Joseph Stuart Hill August 23, 1962 - January 3, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph (Joe) Hill announce his sudden passing at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on January 3, 2022.

Joe was born on August 23, 1962 in Kenora, ON to Doris Kelly and Charlie Wagamese. He was adopted by Stuart and Dee Hill.

Growing up Joe took part in and excelled at most everything he did. He was an altar boy, in cadets, was an awesome bowler, loved shooting hoops with friends whom he had lots of, and camping with family. Then there was his greatest love, baseball. Joe was well on his way to becoming a semi-pro baseball player until an unfortunate injury put a halt to his dream. Joe also loved music and you would always see him walking with his headphones on listening to his favourite tunes. He attended many concerts in his younger years. Joe was an avid animal lover and especially a cat person. Joe enjoyed playing bingo and taking the bus to the Club Regent in Winnipeg with his sister Pat and niece Crystal. Many good times were had during these trips for both Joe and Pat. They had a special bond.

Joe was a quiet man who spoke few words but his actions spoke volumes. He had a huge heart and will always be remembered for his big, beautiful smile!

Joe loved spending time with friends and family, especially his grandsons William and Jasper.

Joe was predeceased by biological parents Doris Kelly and Charlie Wagamese. Grandparents Albert Kelly, Maggie Wagamese, Flora and John Wagamese. Uncles Archie, Gilbert, Horace, Joe, Jimmy Wagamese. Aunts Betty Ann, Marjorie, Elizabeth, Elsie and Mary. Uncles Arthur Kelly, Robert, Dennis, Dave Kelly. Predeceased by adoptive parents Stuart and Dee Hill, sister and brother in law Mike and Pat Konaby, brother in law Dave Horban.

Joe will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his partner Debra McKay, In-Laws Enos & Linda McKay, stepchildren Ronald Pelly, Darlene McKay, Nellie McKay, grandchildren Maya McKay, Marcellus Copenace\McKay, Elizabeth Copenace and twins William & Jasper Wayash. Sister Lola Graham (Kelly), nephew Collin, niece Tuula (Chris), great niece Sohvi and his Uncle Dave Wagamese. The family would like to express their thanks to the doctors and nurses at TBRH (ICU) for taking care of Joe and being there when we could not be. To Pastor Frank Kowal for helping with the service and guidance, Cory from Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre for all his patience and help and to Elder for the traditional prayers and part of the service.

A special service will take place Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 1:30pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.

Donations to The Cat Shelter would be appreciated in Joe’s memory if desired.

I can no longer See you with my eyes Touch you with my hands But I will feel you in my heart “Forever”
