OPP says there is no detour available and it is unclear when the highway will re-open. It is expected to be closed for the majority of the day.
They add there are no reported injuries, but the road conditions are not favorable for travel.

Emergency crews are on scene of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 17. It has since been closed in both directions between Kenora and Vermilion Bay.
The incident occurred early this morning, just east of the Highway 71 junction. Reports say that the collision may have included five tractor-trailers.
There are no reports of any injuries or when the highway will reopen.
