Residents in the heartland woke up to a steep increase at the pumps.
Depending on where you get your gas, prices jumped anywhere from 11 to 15 cents per litre from Thursday to Friday.
With the increase in price being linked to the ongoing situation in Ukraine, prices could rise even higher.
MIX 107/FortSaskOnline asked some Fort Saskatchewan residents about the situation:
- "I guess we're staying in this weekend. I know others have it worse but it still isn't pretty." - Jenn
- "I think the gas prices absolutely suck, but there are some pretty terrible things happening in our world so maybe that helps to put it into perspective." - Carole
- "They've been talking about it for a while now, we kinda got a pre-warning, I guess." - Michael
Some added carpooling and doing more walking may be an option.
Don't expect gas prices to go down anytime soon as industry experts believe we have only seen the start of it here in Alberta.
