Every month, South Fort Chevrolet and MIX 107 team up to give $500 to a deserving charity, organization, or sports team.
This month... things were a little different.
Lucas Pierce is a three-year-old Fort Saskatchewan boy who has had a rough go so far in his young life. Through a cancer diagnosis and constant medical treatment, somehow, he always has a smile and bounce in his step.
It was that incredible personality that caused the $500 donation to balloon into much more.
Daniel Heesing and Brandon Schroder from South Fort Chevrolet brought together like-minded businesses and gave Lucas and his family a $16,500 donation.
Local businesses such as Straightline Dodge, Heartland Ford, Armour Self Storage, and Fort Sask Auto Body all pitched in.
With Lucas and his family heading to Florida for treatment in the coming days, the funds will be used to help with the high cost of the travel and treatment.
