A wide load will be heading down Highway 15 on Saturday.

A wide load will be traveling through the area.
The 103 metre-long and 5.73-metre-high load will leave the Scotford refinery and petrochemical area near Fort Saskatchewan on Saturday (Mar. 19) at 8 a.m. and travel for five days to its destination near Edson.
The load is an electrical generator which is almost as long as a CFL football field and as tall as a traffic light pole.
Route
The load will leave Scotford refinery area using the following route:
- Hwy 15 eastbound; Scotford to Chipman
- Hwy 834 southbound; Chipman to Tofield
- Hwy 14 westbound; Tofield to Highway 21
- Hwy 21 southbound; Hwy 14 to Hwy 625
- Hwy 625 westbound to Nisku/ Queen Elizabeth II Hwy (QE2)
- Hwy 19 westbound; QE2 to Highway 60, near Devon
- Hwy 60 southbound to Hwy 39 , near Calmar
- Hwy 39 westbound to Hwy 20 just west of Warburg
- Hwy 20 southbound to Breton
- Hwy 616 westbound to Hwy 22 south of Drayton Valley
- Hwy 22 northbound through Drayton Valley; Hwy 621 westbound towards Cynthia
- Hwy 753 northbound to Hwy 16 at Chip Lake; Hwy 16 westbound to Edson
- Hwy 47 southbound to Cascade Power
Additional information
- The load is about 6.3 m wide x 5.7 m high x 103 m long.
- The load will move with pilot / guide vehicles, below posted speed limits, using the entire width of the highway, including the shoulder.
- Drivers travelling behind the load will experience delays.
- The load will occasionally travel against the flow of traffic; lanes will be blocked off accordingly.
- Some areas require power line lifts.
- Drivers should watch for guide vehicles and flag people.
