Brandon Hagel has been traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Lightning made the trade with the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Hagel and fourth-round picks in 2022 and 2024. The Blackhawks will receive a first-round pick in 2023 and 2024, plus prospects Taylor Raddysh and Boris Katchouk.

Hagel has scored 61 points in 108 games over three seasons.

"Just want to thank the [Blackhawks] for a home the last three years. As well as all of the fans that supported me. I made tons of friends, memories, and they treated me like the first-class organization they are! That being said I can’t wait to join the [Lightning]," Hagel said on Twitter.

The 23-year-old from Morinville signed a $4.5-million, three-year contract with the Blackhawks in August. Tampa Bay will be taking on that entire salary.

Tampa Bay is currently the two-time Stanley Cup champs and are one of the top contenders for winning again this year.
