Euthyme 'Mike' Carambetsos

APRIL 5, 1947 – MARCH 17, 2022

Euthyme “Mike” Carambetsos passed away on March 17th, 2022 at the age of 74, due to complications resulting from his 12-year struggle with congestive heart failure. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Vivian, children Joanne Wolke (Marcus), Jimmy Carambetsos (Laurie), grandchildren James, Latisha, Ty, Lexi, Drew, and Eli, his brothers Dino and Andreas, as well as his sisters Alexandria, and Nitsa, in addition to many nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents Demetra and Yannis Karambetsos, his nephew Nikolaos, and his twin brother George.

Mike was born April 5th, 1947 in a small village near Lodoriki, Greece. He immigrated to Canada in 1970 with his brother George, initially settling in Winnipeg to be closer to their sister Alexandria. He worked hard in various restaurant kitchens, while attending night school to learn the English language. It was during this time that he fell in love with a waitress named Vivian, and they started a family. Mike eventually started his career as a school bus driver, before moving on to driving highway charters. He enjoyed navigating his way to new places, and made so many friends during his 23 years spent driving school groups and sports teams across the country. Unfortunately, his career was cut short after developing congestive heart failure at the age of 62. Despite his struggles Mike enjoyed retirement as a proud grandfather, a loving husband, a caring brother and loyal friend. He always made time for people, and kept in touch with even his oldest childhood friends. In his subtle way, he taught us all about kindness, humility, patience, and compassion.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Friday, March 25th , 2022 at 1:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, with burial to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery. Mike's Celebration of life will be live streamed via https://fweb.tv/74608.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to It’s a Dog’s Life Fostering Network in Mike’s honour.
