AUGUST 2, 1932 – MARCH 19, 2022

Irma Karola Milko August 2, 1932 – March 19, 2022 This is extremely difficult, but my work here is complete and it is time for me to say to my beautiful children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends, good-bye and we will see each other again.

I have now joined my parents Herman & Sarah, brother Helmet, and my sister Elvira (Schaetzle) and my lovely daughter Linda who all left before me.

Dr. Vaudry, you always provided me the best care and for that, I will always be grateful. Charlene Melillo, your empathy and professionalism were beyond words and our entire family can not thank you enough for all your support and guidance during this most difficult time. Jordan (Jordy) Meyers, you always brought a smile to my face each time you walked into my room. Thank you for everything you did for me during my time at LWDH.

Sigi, Julia, Libby, Barb, Shirley, and all “the girls” you were always there when I needed you and went above and beyond to do things for me, thank you. I was fortunate to be employed at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and retired after 25 years in the Physio department. My family was always the joy of my life and my focus every day and I could not be prouder. Giving back was something I truly believed in and wanted to volunteer wherever I could. In all I was able to be a part of 21 organizations, Lions, Hospital Auxiliary, Children’s Aid Society, Palliative Care, Crime Stoppers, KBI, Kenora Skating Club and CNIB, just to name a few. I will never forget being involved in the first Relay For Life and Cops For Cancer as both these events touched me personally.

Sophie, Jeremy & Jenna, thanks for your FaceTime’s, Megan, your visits, calls and anything else I needed; I love you lots. Brandi, your support and care were beyond anything I expected or imagined, and you will be the world’s best Nurse Practitioner.

To my lovely grandsons Jake, Carter and Sutton, who phoned and visited daily, you are lovely boys and will forever be grateful to have you in my life.

Cheryl, I know it was difficult for you to travel because of your commitment to your family and job but your calls were very much appreciated and I always looked forward to the next one.

Russell and Randy, your dinners and “treats” were always appreciated and enjoyed but it was always the time together I cherished. To my Gisele and Ellie, I thank you for everything you did for me. Gisele, all your caregiving, support and the many errands you did for me. Ellie, you shopped for everything I needed from groceries to clothes, thank you both.

I know there will be many tears, but please rest assured I am okay and will watch over each of you every day. I love you all!

Grandma will be sadly missed by her children; Russell (Charlotte), Ellie (Jerry), Randy (Cyndy), Cheryl (Dale), Gisele (Dave), grandchildren; Josh, Jarod (Nicole), Carson (Casey), Jeremy (Jenna), Megan, Brandi (Tom), Jennifer (Mitch), David (Rayne), Mathew (Ashley), Jake, Carter, Sutton, great grandchildren; Marielle, Braelynn, Sophie, Rylan, Kooper, Rexton, Connor, Tucker, Kieran, Madison and Jordyn.
