Rugby is coming back here in Portage la Prairie. The Portage Wolves Youth Rugby Club is now open for registration for kids aged 6-14. Rugby is a great opportunity to play an athletic, team-oriented activity in which children can enhance their physical literacy while having a good time.
The season will start May 12th and practices will be held every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Rotary Republic Park.
Coach Nathan Peto is excited to see what this season has to hold as there are so many great opportunities.
"Last year we ran a program and it was just a lot of fun having kids from different ages take on a sport that they have never approached before and just learning as a club and a team. I enjoyed coaching the team, and we are going to participate again in the Manitoba Rugby League."
Peto has played rugby for most of his life and is enjoying being able to pass down his knowledge while also bringing this opportunity to our city.
The Wolves will play teams from all over Manitoba throughout the season, as well as participate in multiple Rugby Jamborees. The cost to play for the season is $80 for non-contact players (children aged 6-11) and $155 for contact players (children aged 11-14). You can contact coach Peto at the Portage Wolves - Youth Rugby Facebook page if you have any further questions.
